Eighteen victims were reported in Damascus Suburb so far, including two activists and four defected soldiers. Victims were killed during random shilling on residential areas and direct shooting at civilians. In a new disturbing development, regime personnel shot activist, Dr. Wehbeh, in the head while he was in his clinic. Dozens of injuries were also reported during the random shelling, many of them are in critical condition.

Military personnel opened fire directly on peaceful civilians, launched assault and detention raid on homes and farms and detained dozens of residents. In addition, regime forces inspected pedestrians and vehicles and forced business owners to open their businesses and resume their routine activities in an attempt to put an end to the ongoing strike.

Many cities, Douma in specific, were a true battlefields. Massive explosions rocked districts and farms day and night. Security reinforcements, including tanks and artillery, stationed in the main squares and streets. Military forces launched random shelling and heavy machine gunfire attacks on residential districts, destroyed homes and businesses and flew military helicopters at low altitude to terrorize residents.

The humanitarian condition is deteriorating as most areas suffer a severe shortage in basic needs and many cities lack all forms of communication such as Internet and cell-phones. However, the suburban area continues to be on strike in solidarity with the ill-fated cities and in protest against the regime’s crimes.
