Eighteen citizens were killed in rural Damascus on Sunday. The fatalities per area were as follows; Dareyya 5, M’aaloula 5, Khan Asheeh 3, Mu’addamiyyat Ashaam 1, Hajeerah 1, Azzraiqiyah 1, Yabrood 1 and Damascus 1.
Annabek: The Free Syrian Army (FSA) detonated the Traffic Police’s building located on Damascus-Homs highway with a car bomb, killing at least 50 regime soldiers and wounding dozens. The 18th Brigade retaliated by raining shells over the outskirts of Annabek and Yabrood cities as well as over a bakery in Annabeck, setting the building on fire. Fierce clashes between the FSA and regime forces followed the explosion.
Dareyya: Five residents were killed as a result of systematic regime rocket shelling on the city.
Mu’addamiyyat Ashaam: The Fourth Division resumed fierce rocket shelling in an attempt to invade the city from several different areas, destroying the minaret of the historic Omari Mosque, the city’s oldest minaret.
Shab’aa: Fierce and continual clashes between the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and regime forces took place for eight days in a row as the latter attempt to invade Eastern Ghootah from the southern side near Almlaihah and Deir Al’asafeer farmlands. Assad forces continued to fiercely shell the area and its farmlands since Saturday evening.
Alblaliyah: The Free Syrian Army (FSA) managed to keep at bay regime forces attempting to invade the township, killing and wounding a number of regime forces and shelling one of their posts. Meanwhile, Assad forces stationed at the Air Defense Battalion and Damascus International Airport resumed shelling on the township, destroying a number of homes.
Zamalka: The Free Syrian Army (FSA) clashed with regime forces along the Southern Bypass and managed to keep at pay regime forces who attempted to invade the area amid heavy mortar shelling on the township.
'Aadra: Continual and indiscriminate shelling targeted residential areas along much of the infrastructure.
Khan Asheeh: The 137th Regiment fiercely shelled residential areas, wounding a number of residents.
Yabrood: Fierce regime shelling targeted the city, killing one resident, wounding others and setting the Telephone Department on fire . The shelling attacks also targeted Assahil village, burning a number of homes.
Khan Asheeh Palestinian Refugee Camp: Three Citizens were tortured to death at the regime custody.
