Summary of Events in Hama province on Wednesday, 23 Nov 2011

– Hayalin:

• Regime militias and security forces raided the town of Hayalin at 4 AM; they imposed a curfew after they fired randomly, terrorized and intimidated locals, looted stores and homes, burning some of the homes, including the homes of: Journalist Safi Abdullah Al-Hamdo, Riad Sarhan Al-Fares, Tareq Al-Fares, and Alaa Tarad Al-Shawish, all of these homes were looted, and all heavier possessions that they were unable to loot were destroyed, then the homes were burned. The number of military vehicles is estimated to be more than 70 vehicles.

• Martyr Ahmed Al-labni was killed during the raid on Hayalin town. A passerby was killed in Hayalin, he was from Al-Jalmeh town, we were unable to verify his name due to the tight siege.

• The villages close by Hayalin were surrounded, including the villages of; Al-Uwayna, Salbeh, and Al-Jalmeh, and their residents fled to the hills and agricultural lands, and they are closely monitoring the situation.

• Al-Uwayna village was surrounded, regime forces told the people via loudspeaker: “Any one from Hayalin has to instantly surrender himself, or we will burn it [the village] over your heads.” Note that, for the 1st time, this campaign was accompanied by 4 empty trucks to haul looted property.

– Al-Tarmeseh:

The little village of Hawsh Al-Tarmeseh (also known as Zour Al-Qaada), located between Al-Tarmeseh and Al-Sefsafiya, was stormed by 25 military vehicles. Wide arrest campaigns were conducted accompanied by random firing, causing the martyrdom of Abdul-Razaq Soutel, a 36 years old resident of Al-Tarmeseh. Around 10 elements defected from the regime’s army and clashed with it.
Between those arrested today we have the name of Amjad Muhammad Al-Hamid, who is 24 years old.

– Al-Jalameh:

Some elements defected from the army; their count is unknown to us due to the tight siege. The entire crews of 2 tanks defected and joined the people, and then regime forces came and took away the tanks. Most of the residents went to the hills and agricultural areas and are carefully monitoring the situation.

– Kafr Naboudeh and Kernaz:

In Kafr naboudeh, a large morning demonstration was held despite the siege and the oppression exercised on this and other towns and villages of rural Hama. In Kernaz, children participated in a large demonstration, despite the invasion and the siege by security and Shabiha (regime-sponsored gangs).

– Qastoun:

Security forces arrested 3 teachers, the village’s people came out in a demonstration demanding their release, and regime’s militia responded with firing heavily at the protesters, causing the martyrdom of Khaled Al-Louf, and wounding 3 others.

3. Hasan Qentar

– Al-Asharneh:

Army troops, security forces, and Shabiha, stormed the town in large numbers, firing heavily and randomly at civilians, causing dozens of injuries, destroying private property, and burning residents’ stores and cars.

– Al-Twayneh:

Martyr Abdul-Karim Al-Satouf was killed after defecting from the army, he was gunned down by security and Shabiha, who then disfigured the dead body and stole body parts to sell them. The martyr funeral procession was held on the same day.

– Taibat Al-Imam:

The army stormed the city from the north, randomly firing from machine guns, a fierce raid campaign was conducted accompanied by gunfire, and large military reinforcements arrived from the direction of Souran town. Still, a large demonstration was held in defiance of the regime’s army.
Some unconfirmed information leaked, on the reason for the raid and searched in the town, that some elements defected from the army and were able to escape after causing the army huge loses; which are said to be the death of at least 3 officers.

10 – Yusuf Ahmed Al-Asaad
11. Mohammed Rajoub. 40 years man from Shizar, merchant of pistachio, he was coming to Taibat Al-Imama, regime forces looted his money too

– Qamhana town: the arrest of Haroun Mahmoud Al-Sharaan and Mahmoud Adnan Al-Abdul-Rahman (Al-Herek), they were arrested at one of the checkpoints surrounding the village.

– Hama city:

In what seems to be a mobilization of military forces, for the 8th day, massive military reinforcements have been arriving at the military airport, including heavy weaponry such as tanks, and armored vehicles, in addition to large numbers of soldiers inside the airport.

Sounds of torture and cries for help by detainees held in the school of Naseh Al-Alwani were heard from the homes adjacent to the school at Aleppo-road.

Sheikh Fadi Al-Khani, the principle of Al-Assad center for teaching Quran in Al-Manakh neighborhood has been detained for 3 days, and was put through the worst of torture methods in the political security branch in Hama, he was transferred to Damascus today.

7:00 PM, Heavy security presence in the neighborhood of Al-Sabouniya, with 2 armored vehicles, 4 white pickups, a red station car, and 150 elements of security and Shabiha roaming the neighborhoods of Al-Sabouniya and Al-Aliliyat.

Security forces were heavily present at Al-Asi square and at the roundabout; such as; the roundabouts of Bilal, Al-Filat, Al-Jub, and Al-Arbain. Security and Shabiha searched passing cars and microbuses.

Security surrounded Al-Alamayn Street and the College of Veterinary Medicine, 25 pro-regime students held a demonstration under tight protection by security and Shabiha. Security tried to force the college’s students to participate in the demonstration but they refused, resulting in the arrest of 4 students and forcing the rest to leave campus, be dispersed, and threatened not to come out in anti-regime demonstrations.

8:45 PM, Those defected from regime forces clashed with security in the central prison, firing from light weapons and a Shilka
anti-aircraft, sounds of Takbir chants (God is greater [than the oppressor]) rose to the sky over the neighborhood.

9:45 PM, Gunfire in the neighborhood of Al-Hamidiya.

10:00 PM, Explosion sounds in many areas of Hama city.

10:45 PM, An explosion in Al-Hamidiya neighborhood, and sounds of intensive gunfire. Followed by sounds of a big explosion in Al-Harsh area at Al-Saboniya neighborhood, sounds of gunfire were heard right afterwards coming from many areas, such as; the area’s headquarter at Al-Debagha neighborhood, 30 Street (Al-Thalathin) in Al-Qusour neighborhood, Jesr Al-Mazareb, accompanied by a number of explosions in multiple places. Security forces were heavily deployed in Al-Debagha neighborhood and at the Streets of Al-Maghila and 15 Athar (15 March).

Heavy gunfire at Bilal roundabout by different kinds of weapons and coming from the checkpoint-barricade at the air force intelligence, cars passing the roundabout were thoroughly searched.

11:45 PM, Heavy gunfire in Al-Karama neighborhood.

Demonstrations were held in many neighborhoods, including the neighborhoods of Al-Hamidiya, Al-Sabouniya, Al-Alamayn, Aleppo-road, Al-Sharqiya. The demonstration of Bab Qebli neighborhood was joined, as usual, by the demonstration of Al-Taawoniya, also, protesters from the neighborhoods of Al-Jarajmeh, Al-Madina, Al-Bayad, and Al-Jalaa participated in the demonstration of Bab Qebli. The chants were calling for international protection, in solidarity with besieged rural Hama and wounded Homs, congratulating the Yemen brethren and demanding the execution of president Bashar Al-Asad.

In the night, demonstrations were held in the neighborhood of Al-Karama, Al-Wadi, Al-Qusour, Al-Aliliyat, and Al-Faraya, the last 2 joined together.

Student demonstrations were held in Al-Zagha Street in Al-Sabouniya neighborhood. 2 demonstrations issued from the girls’ school of Um Al-Shahid and Uthman Al-Horani School. A fourth was held by elementary students of Ammar Bin Yaser School, in response to the arrest of 2 children from their school yesterday. Demonstrations came out from the schools of Ibn Khaldoun, Mukhtar Al-Asheq, Al-Yarmouk, Uqba Bin Nafea, Mahmoud Al-Nisafi in Al-Taawoniya neighborhood. In the neighborhood of Al-Madina demonstrations came out from the schools of Abi Al-Fedaa and Tareq Bin Zeyad. Demonstrations also came out from Abi Tammam in Al-Jarajmeh neighborhood. In Al-Faraya neighborhood demonstrations issued from the commerce school and the school of Al-Wehda Al-Arabiya and headed to Al-Marabet Street. And in Al-Qusour neighborhood a demonstration was held by students of Haitham Asaya school.
